Feeding Live Yeast
The rumen is very much like its own fermentation chamber. As ruminants intake forages, starches and proteins, anaerobic communities of bacteria, fungi and protozoa begin the digestion process by breaking down fibers in the feed. Microbial function may not always be optimal due to the type or quality of fed in a ration. If the rumen is not optimized, then the ruminant may experience problems such as acidosis, bloat or nitrogen loss.
Live yeast can act to shift fermentation and improve rumen efficiency. That is why it is best to feed live yeast.
