SC 1077dna

There are thousands of different strains of yeast, each with their own identity and function. Lallemand Animal Nutrition, a global technological leader in yeast, screens and selects yeast strains based on specific functions. Using "DNA fingerprinting" technology, specific strains are obtained and verified to produce desired outcomes.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae, strain 1077 (SC 1077) is one such yeast that was specifically selected for its abilities to enhance the rumen fermentation process and improve hindgut microflora in ruminant animals. With these attributes, SC 1077 can be fed at a significantly lower level than yeast culture products because it is the probiotic effect of the live yeast that benefits the animal.

There are more than 1000 strains in the Saccharomyces cerevisiae species alone, each with its own characteristics and unique DNA profile. SC 1077 was specifically selected for its ability to:

  • Reduce lactate production in the rumen
  • Increase lactate utilization in the rumen
  • Enhance the rumen environment
  • Stimulate the microbial population in the rumen
  • Increase fiber digestibility
  • Increase rumen pH
